Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

So lately I've been thinking about hosting a race.
It works like this, I don't know what day it will be yet but at a certain time a mod or owner of the level blocks off the start. Than lets say at 10am (EST) he/she removes the block blocking off the start. Than the players try to be the first person to finish the level. The first person to finish the level will either get a gem code or get the gems transferred to their account. The prize is 50 GEMS
More info will be released once I have the whole thing figured out.
I am providing the gems

I wouldn't make a race based on EE'S physicks , since the winner is always Subjective.
Every client calculates physicks on its own anyway.

Wait I don't understand the problem with physics. Isn't it just the first to complete the level? Like, maybe just a bunch of minigames.
thx for sig bobithan

"Every client calculates physics on its own"
Well, yes and no. Yes, they calculate it on their own. Assuming they don't tamper with the client, there's zero effect on their ability to finish the race equally.
Network latency could be an issue, but then Onjit's explanation applies.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.
It is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it... anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.
I think fish is nice, but then I think that rain is wet, so who am I to judge?
For a moment, nothing happened. Then, after a second or so, nothing continued to happen.

I would like to counter that one, why not open the world 2 -3 days before and then the day of the race open a timing bot, everyone gets 3 chances to make their best time (each time they join the world counts as a chance so if they quit they get 99 hours 99 minutes)
the top ones will have to wait to see if someone can beat them before making the second or third try ^^

With your system, someone has to be there making sure there's no obvious hackers. The less obvious client tweaks would probably get through regardless. With everyone racing at once (sorry, timezones) at least the cheaters would be slightly more obvious. And, you wouldn't need someone observing every race.
