Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

In order to change or fix a sign after you make a new sign with different text or leave and re enter world, you have to retype all of the sign text again.
This would be a good idea so you do not have to rewrite all of the text again.
I was thinking something like clicking sign and it shows a box that you can edit sign text.
Post suggestions here and I will put them in OP with credits for best one.

Hold number key and press on a sign you want to copy. Text from it will be copied and you will be able to edit it.

It was mentioned in release notes of the update when it was added. http://forums.everybodyedits.com/viewtopic.php?id=27432 under ui changes and block selector.
I see how you could miss that it also copies the data of blocks though. We will try to describe changes better next time

Yeah I thought that was just for getting that block into the block bar. It doesn't say anything about sign text, it makes sense though.

Same I thought it was just for picking up blocks.

Please mention these kind of things somewhere else too, bcuz I don't read all release note! This is very good trick and should be more known to all players.
Recently I also found out when you start typing usernames in the chat -> press tab to complete the username.
Please add this maybe on http://everybodyedits.com/help and create the new title "tips and tricks" or something.

They put them up there to be read... why would you read it someplace else and not the release notes? the majority of the things they say on them are good things to know/important, don't use not reading something as an excuse for not knowing a feature (regardless whether or not this specific one wasn't clearly specified)

Umm ok, it's just there was a thread on Game suggestions forum (http://forums.everybodyedits.com/viewtopic.php?id=27970) where the user was suggesting an idea-more functionality to the message box and now this thread. It seems people are not that aware of this.
Is it a really that big problem, to gather all these little special features, commands, key combinations, "shortcuts" together? Like I said maybe on everybodyedits.com/help page. When I don't remember a specific sign command or I don't even know if it exists am I gonna have to look at every single release notes so I am maybe gonna find it?

Well thats fair enough, I guess I took your statement to literal/out of context about not reading those, however if you don't read them you might want to anyway, it helps.

But then whats the point of having the 'release notes'?

Release notes are for detailed changes, additions, and updates to the game.
It would be nice to have a "quick reference list" style page for the shortcuts, tips, and whatnot.
Obligatory piece of text placed here forcing you to load an extra 100 bytes of data per post I make.
