I have not much to say other than that EE! is either just an attempt to keep us from crying, or that it'll be shortlived like EEU.

I feel more hopeful about EE! then I have ever had with EEU.

It would be nice to see the original Everybody Edits be reprogrammed in HTML5. Sure, it wouldn't be as good as Everybody Edits Universe quality-wise, but it would help to keep the nostalgia going. Besides, I'm sure most of us are here for that purpose right?

Hearing Everybody Edits Universe get shot down like this is heavily disappointing, but unfortunately, not surprising in the slightest. I understand the reasoning(s), but with the minimal amount of people that worked on the game (if at all) up until this announcement, it was bound to happen.

I ask myself; Why is a project like this cursed? You wouldn't think a game about building with blocks and interacting with friends would stretch out for many years and go on multiple development hiatuses and setbacks, but hey, there's a first for everything.

It's sad to see a community such as ours joke about this topic so often... It shouldn't be the case, and yet, it is.

Definitely not a first. There's plenty of games that sort of die, mostly due to lack of profits/funding. They limp along for a while, supported by community members who step in to continue development and replace paid staff. It's a better outcome than being shut down years ago.

What I don't understand is why people are still determined to be negative about EE's future. Sure, nobody can predict that it'll become as popular as it was a decade ago, but this initial investment should be plenty to fund a decent first release, and then we'll see. For the time being, if Satanya/Felix have $500 to throw at a logo competition they're probably doing fine for initial funding. Devs aren't cheap, and to have (allegedly) hired five of them should make even the edgiest doomers hopeful.
