Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Note: There are third parties who will have flash alive for a while until their contract ends, idk if that apply to shockwave, this topic is about when flash die completely for the web browsers

Yes, there are no self-destructs built into flash. If you have the swf and a standalone flash player, they will continue to work. They will not receive security updates so for safety you should run flash things inside a sandbox or VM.

If you inspect the source or the live page you should find the URL to the swf file that you should be able to feed into the standalone flash player.

Like the SFW files comes with a door that hackers can use to introduce viruses to my computer later on, or do the viruses already come inside within the SFW files?
Are SFW files like doors for hackers?

Adobe currently try to fix any security vulnerabilities they find with Flash as soon as they can, they're basically making sure that people can't do any damage to your files or computer, or get access to anything you don't give them access to. Once they end support for Flash they'll no longer do this though, meaning that it's possible that there is some (currently unknown) exploit that will allow someone to do some (currently unknown) damage in some (currently unknown) way.

TL;DR;
Very simply put: you should regard them like .EXE files.
An antivirus could give you a false positive, or a false negative.
So if you trust the source you should be okay. If not, well..

Adobe has thousands of vulnerabilities found in their software every year. I would highly advise people to disable Flash in their browser by default and optimally run it in a sandbox or virtual environment.
I have some limited but working experience with Flash vulnerabilities and there are a few that allow for arbitrary code execution still in circulation. A month ago I helped disinfect my brother's computer after he managed to get a bitcoin miner installed after using those 'free movie' streaming sites that rely on Flash.

it dies lol
Will this have any effect on hospital software and medical systems that are currently running on flash? ie. pacemakers, critical life support equipment, MRI machines, etc.

Anyone who has a pacemaker running Adobe Flash has most likely already died from it.

Moved Peace's thread from Game Discussion and merged.
And I can't find any evidence for that. Adobe has said they'll support flash until the end of 2020.
