I had a similar issue once inside Super EE Party. I spawned somewhere at the edge of the map inside a block instead of the regular spawn area.

This trick is pretty simple. Credits to DUDEWITHHAT for showing it off in their world.
Place a portal (that actually leads somewhere) at (1,1) in a world that doesn't have any spawnpoints.

huh but how does that work out it shoudl teleport you when you join right?
EDIT i mean its not liek that space is enterely ignore when spawning as placing a spike at 1,1 still kills the player endlessly

I'd guess that its because portals only teleport you when you enter the block. When you first join the world you start in the top left corner, so technically you never entered the block, while when you reset you used to be wherever you reset from, so when you get moved to the top left corner you enter the block and it teleports you.
Yes this is a bug, but I don't really think its worth fixing at this point, as 1. with EEU not that far away its no longer worth breaking worlds for a bit more consistancy, and 2. it doesn't really have a downside
