Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

likewise, the rewards are pretty rubbish.

And Patreon makes me concerned for Pipec as he's becoming a Scrooge

Exactly, Patreon is just a way to support Everybody Edits. When you give the developers money, you help them with costs, like domain costs!

Having money is very important when making an online game. The rewards that you receive are just a thank you! //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

While that is true, the patreon policy should be reconsidered in my opinion

You can support EE by buying gems, i guess you can support with both ways. i guess patreon made players to give EE money more than buying gems which helps staff develop EEU more. BUT

Patreon system like tiers system need to be changed, like reduce the cost. not every tiers and rules are messy and thats how JoeyC-Xenonetix drama which rules need to be clearer. It's my opinion, of course you can disagree, I want to hear your thoughts/opinions on it.

I don't think this was a case of miscommunication in rules. I think Joey knew that Xenon didn't want the videos to be shared but Joey wanted to anyway because he felt that everyone else had a right to see them.

I'm not comparing you to anything or anyone, I just gave a more valuable option rather than deleting patreon. The title of the thread shows how "rich" you really are (by any means I'm not judging you by/for your financial position).

Patreon in its bigger tiers(over $10) is a manner of exploiting users, merchandise under the form of donation.

To ask for $40, $80 and $250 on Patreon is a bit unusual to begin with. And this Patreon is about a flash game...

An example that comes into my mind in this moment are Travel Vlogs, where, usually, for just the price of $5 dollars you get an "one-of-a-kind" postcard a month from wherever that youtuber is. Something actually tangible.

I don't believe it is moralistically fair to ask kids so much money for a dream[EE reboot]. Parents should interfere, it isn't normal, in my opinion, to lend over $10 monthly so your child can flaunt they have money in a game.
And the mature which do this without according a dime to those who really are in need, are despicable.

I believe EEU will be released, but EEU might not be the killer of EE, and EEU is not guaranteed to have a user base at least to the one EE has today. Surely, at the beginning EEU may have a bigger player base, but will EEU be able to maintain it on the long run? Perhaps EEU will not only kill EE but also itself. After all we don't know how the physics will change and what will happen to the well known Maps/Worlds EE has. Much of the history and work could vanish over the night.

Also, I have a bit of a feeling the staff has started to invest lesser time in EEU.

Xenonetix said "I've invested a fair amount of my own money into it[the game] so far. Some would say too much".
Personally I don't believe they invested more than a bit over the minimum.

But a solution was released, Patreon. And Patreon conveniently began generating profit.

According to their official chart: The $500 necessary for paying the bills(which personally I believe is quite much for a monthly payment) is achieved. And this sum is achieved from Patreon alone, not counting all the money from in-game payments transactions, which aren't neglectable at all as Gosha said.

Also, Xenonetix is a well-known professional poker player, and when a poker players stops betting(investing)...well...it's not sounding good at all. Commonly a good poker player exists a game with more money, perhaps this is that moment.

I want it to be clear that the ground has been made safe for a failure, in my opinion. The patreons are the first row seaters to see whatever the outcome EEU has. But nonetheless in any scenario patreons will be thanked for their money and naivety, and the rest of us will be forgotten or blamed.

What makes you think the people donating aren't adults that are fully capable of making their own choices?

I am not, that's why I also mentioned my opinion on the adults which are doing this.

Zumza wrote:

If there are some very generous adults in our community which donate $20, $40, $80 a month and more from their own worked money, and actually sponsor other charitable projects as well, even a little, there's nothing for me to objectify.

But for those who donate $40 and only donate to EE and nothing else, or on their daily life behave like a little scrooge... for those I would doubt their capability of making their own reasonable choices in this matter.

I hope I'm not misunderstood, my intention is not to insult their reasoning, there are countless of examples of intelligent people when sometimes are reckless and just follow their hart and do what they think is better.

My message to this adults is: don't be reckless, you spending a large sum of money doesn't actually help EE that much in the end.

Re: Remove Patreon

I'm not really seeing how that's much better. I bought a burrito Friday. $1.09USD. I could have donated that to cancer research and made my own burrito at home out of leftovers. That doesn't make me despicable because I spent money on something maybe less important than curing cancer.

Re: Remove Patreon

Diff, we all probably wasted a lot of money before, but we don't realise it at all. Sometimes Patreon can be like that too.
