Well, the truth is I see a reason why switches can have no minimap color and why the can have a minimap color in one stage. I don't think they should change color, but it would make sense if the 'gate' version of a switch lacked a minimap color while the 'door' version didn't, so you could have hidden stuff on the minimap that unveils itself when the switch is pressed. However, the already announced feature of completely invisible switches is just as useful for a different reason: You can have perfectly unintruded minimap art where you'd normally have a bunch of blobs and dots of purple. This helps the appearance of a world, as it no longer is conflicting with gameplay as much.
