Username highlight feature

OK.

Now I was thinking for a while, and this "choosing your own nickname" now seems kinda silly, it can get easly abused, and probably confusing for players. I came up with a solution, a better idea so hear me out please:

So, a player's name is only hightlighted, when the full name is written.
There should be a possibility that a player's name is also highlighted, when it's name is not fully written.
  Example for me: My username is only highlighted with: Napakeun
                           With this feature, my username would also be highlighted when written like this: Napakeu , Napake , Napak , Napa , Nap (3 letters minimum)
And of course you could disable this feature in settings.

Nickname for your username - special in-game feature that let's you choose your own nickname in settings.

-What is a nickname?
It could be a shorten name of your full username. ( Example for me: Napakeun -> Napa ). It could also be any different name that your friends usually call you.

-Why is this a good idea?
If your username is really long, other players usually don't write your full username so they use a shorter variation of your name.
But when they use a shorter name, it's harder to notice, because it isn't hightlighted as your full username.
With this feature your "2nd name" or nickname would be highlighted in messages as well!

Yes I know there is a keyboard shortcut [TAB] that writes the full username.

What do you think of this idea? Would this lead to confusion among players and abuse of this feature?

Nice idea, really good but that is useless when you can use TAB to search for names. This is much faster =p

We all know that's not truth, noobdigy.

The nicknames shouldn't change our usernames, they should be something like tags for blocks. It doesn't change your username but when somebody says the nickname which you added then it highlights. You should be able to enter a couple of nicks.

Maybe other people can choose your nickname?
Like reidolol exp. Me and his other friends can give him a nickname like creature in ee
If he likes it,he accepts it and people can call him creature or reidolol,both will highlight.
If he doesent want to be called that,he can refuse and it wont highlight in chat.

In many games you can set the words that highlight the chat or something similar,  and I dont see any problems since it only affects the one who has set the words. (excpect if I misunderstood the whole suggestion)

Yes, well you are completely right.
But as I said, it might get abused, like choosing some administrator's username or any other player, it might be confusing for others, but as you said, it only affects the one who chooses the username, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea :/

Lol yeah XD but "Nap" seems such a cute nickname to me I wouldn't mind that.
I'm actually anxiously waiting for the sleeping smiley so it could become my thing haha
