I downloaded the game
Is there anything different from the online version? Like saving multiple levels?

The downloadable version of EE link is on the beta site; as far as I know, anyone can use it.
The downloadable version does NOT support any new features that aren't on the site.

I half-expected there to be downloadable levels for offline play. I was dissappointed.

I figured that it would be a really cool feature to be included in the offline version. You could have the client save certain rooms as templates that the offline client could rebuild on its own for offline play.
One can dream though.
