Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Yo! Scroll was created in 2012 (I had it in the best of 2012 world)
However, Yo! Scroll Infinite (newer version) Was made in early 2013. So in my opinion, it still qualifies.
tak4n wrote:^I believe 8 worlds will get picked and placed under a name of each person who is best at something. There won't be an option for "the best world" unless Master1 will change it.
Also best player is easy to decide, there are players, and there are gods at minis. People like daniel1234, benje00, etc are sure to be nominated.EDIT: Or 12 worlds, that's what it was last year.
EDIT2: So I don't double post I'd like to nominate Yo!Scroll Infinite http://eeforumify.com/viewtopic.php?id=27421
The forum topic was made 7 days into January, but I am not sure if it came out in 2012 or 2013.Either way, it definitely deserves to be nominated since it couldn't have been in 2012.
lul, never heard of those guys before. There can't be a best player.
Lol. If you knew daniel1234, your opinion on that would be changed fairly quickly.

Still sounds unnecessary to have a "best member." Sounds more like "who has the most friends" contest or something. I have some very funny, but very unpopular, good friends. But they'd have no chance at this title because there are other more known people, possibly less funny, but get the title still.

I don't think there is a best member title. If you're still talking about best player, it is not the most known or the funniest person, it is the person that is the most professional at completing maps, minis, surviving bosses and new concepts that other players release. Daniel1234 won this title in 2011 and 2012 and I am pretty sure he will be one of the main leaders this year as well. However he hasn't been playing much in 2013 and the newer community doesn't know who he is so I think there is a good chance someone like benje00 will win the title. However in my opinion, even benje00 (The most pro non-chat back when chat was not available to everyone) has a bit to go to get to daniel's level.
Yet I agree there are a lot of new and unrecognized players out there that proved they are very good but are not very well known such as timb if anyone can remember him. However a lot of players have proved all of us that they definitely deserve the title, and those people deserve to be known; daniel, benje00, spiderman, thwinkt just to name a few, they are gods at minis, they proved all of us they are really pro's at the game.
This is why I think it won't be too hard to decide on the best player of the year. It will probably be a close one too, but I don't find this title stupid. Also I am most likely sure linus21 will win this title.

Meh, this thing is unofficial anyway. And I don't know any of the people you mentioned, though I've started playing a couple years ago. "Best player" implies the best at playing the game, which isn't the same as designing a level. If it's "best player," then I'd have to say Cow for his crazy speed runs, though there could be someone faster who I don't know of yet. "Best player" sounds more appropriate for a monthly thing.. not a whole year.

Cow is definitely one of the best players. However, he'd be closer to getting best bosser than the best player title of the year. Also it is very unlikely that the best player title will change every month. Daniel had the title for 2 years now, excluding 2010, however he probably was best player of 2010 as well even though he says there were better. I still haven't seen anyone be better than him, but a lot of players close to him. Yes I've seen how good cow is, yes and I agree he has some serious skill, however, players I mentioned are quite a bit better than cow. It's a shame you haven't heard of the players I mentioned though.
I am sure even cow will agree with my judgement. Cow is definitely one of the top bossers however.

Things aren't set in stone. You can't really have a "best player," it's just a few fans of the game who are friends with each other deciding which of them is really good at the game. I've never seen these people in-game, never seen their levels, never seen them post here. Just seems silly to call someone best player when they're only known by a few. It's hard to call someone the best when we call others "really good, very good, pretty good, super good, etc" at the game. There is no score system, it's just "hey guys what do you think?" of the what, 0.1% or less of the EE community voting on who is the best at the game.

I'm not really heated. Perhaps it would be better if this was called the Unofficial Best Of, as it is just a small group of fans (0.1% or so of the community) deciding what's the best for the entire game.
I'm getting heated over this, and having so much fun while doing it.
Deciding on the best player is the same as deciding on the best artist, minigame maker, programmer, etc. This .1% of the community has been playing for a long time and know the game as well as the players in the game very well. This .1% of people know the community better than the rest 99.9% of it. The people on the forum tend to be more mature as well, they know who they are voting for. It's obviously unofficial but it has been very close to official results up to now and I am sure it will be very close this year as well to the actual game.
I love arguing, it gets me so pumped up and more excited for the actual voting.

I don't mind a debate, but I hate arguing.
There is a big difference between picking best player and picking best artist, for example, if I want to see what this one level looks like, I can easily go and see it and voice my opinion, but what about best player? I can't easily go and see the skill of a player, especially if they're rarely on. It makes it harder for new forumers to have an opinion because they simply don't know the person. Why do you think the same person got picked twice in a row? Because the same opinions are present. Different artists are picked, different programmers are picked, because that's something easier for more people to check out. Best player, however, is not. And with the same opinions come the same results, unless said person has actually got inactive enough to not count anymore. Whereas best art, best level, etc can be voted on, picking best player is more of a pick a buddy kind of thing.
Offline
Daniel1234 has always been one of the first, and fastest, to beat the majority of the most difficult maps created by the greatest ee minimakers.
I need to see him for myself to be able to agree with you. But seeing his skill isn't as easily available as created levels. One can easily judge the art/gameplay of a level, but one can not easily judge someone's skill if they know nothing of it. So a few people think he's the best so it's declared he is the best player of the year, apparently.
Actually I want to go through this reply of t4ken..
Deciding on the best player is the same as deciding on the best artist, minigame maker, programmer, etc.
False, for reasons said above.
This .1% of the community has been playing for a long time and know the game as well as the players in the game very well. This .1% of people know the community better than the rest 99.9% of it.
Do you know how arrogant and how conceited this sounds? Yeah, you and a few buddies like the game and are pretty good at it, but that doesn't make your opinion anymore valuable than anyone else's. They're just fans. We're just fans. You're just a fan. So what makes us, or better worded, you, able to call what's the best of the year, when there's hundreds of people who might completely disagree?
The people on the forum tend to be more mature as well, they know who they are voting for.
Except not all of us. I don't know who the hell this daniel guy is, but oh, guess my votes aren't going to mean anything because it's already been established that your group of friends dictate over what's the best in the game, what you few think is best, is best, it is a fact, no matter how many people disagree. This is one of the reasons I've come on and off the forums. People are too negative about the game, and people feel like they've become official judges of the game, simply because they like the game a lot. Well so does the 99% of the community.
It's obviously unofficial but it has been very close to official results up to now and I am sure it will be very close this year as well to the actual game.
Nah, it's all unofficial. Like said before, you're just a fan of the game, and so is everyone else, and your opinion should not matter more than others, no matter how good you are at the game. Perhaps a more accurate title will be "some stuff some of us like," because that best of level I played, though the art may have been good, the levels were really bad. They weren't fun. But hey, if you say it's official! Now I'm not saying what I think is best should be fact, but you'd think for something "nearly official," most people would at least agree it's a good level, yes? Not necessarily the best, but at least good. If the rest of the community played these levels and had their opinion heard, they'd likely disagree with your opinion. And if most disagree, just how official is it?
I love arguing, it gets me so pumped up and more excited for the actual voting.
Who gets to vote? Self-elected fans of the game? Self-proclaimed judges of Everybody Edits?
EDIT: 818th post. Butterfly posts.

I agree, it's important to judge what you see. But don't you think that players that played the game longer seen more than the average player?
If you haven't seen something, then don't vote on it. If you think voting for best player is stupid because you simply haven't seen a lot of pro players doesn't make the whole voting system stupid.
If a person makes a good art level, it doesn't make him the best artist in the whole game. Same with the best player. However, if the person continues making great art levels, or in this situation, if a person continues to fascinate EE community with their skill, it becomes obvious over time if they are the best. This is why we are making this call on who is the best, because the older community has seen more than the newer community.
If you can't make a call on this, then don't. However if you can't make a call, doesn't make the whole voting system stupid.

Except.. if more people don't know or even hear of this "best player" only a few people know of, then it's not fair. Art can be seen by all, but the skill of a player only a select few know. Like I said, likely why the same person was picked twice. Only really active oldbies know this player. But anyone can know the art, as it's there for all to see if people look in profiles. It's not stupid. It's just flawed.
Also there is no best artist. There's a thing called style that keeps us from finding the best.
Holy crud take it to PM's.
To the people complaining about best member: That is obviously me. Despite everyone hating me, and my stuff generally being boring and annoying to finish, I am quite obviously the funniest, have the best memory, smartest, and have the best memory.

This. There is no need to argue about something completely pointless like this.
And there is no point of having Master1 copy levels into one of his own and get attention for them. Wouldn't it just be better to have a world with a list of names instead?

If I'm not mistaken, didn't you argue a while ago about how it was fine to try and steal MG Crew's name, because it's just "A couple of letters"?

They don't own the two letters. I know someone who goes by the name MG, for several years. Omg, crew stole name. Seriously though, MG isn't a unique enough name to be "stolen." There is a huge difference between using someone's level and using two letters.
So what you are saying is, it is not ok, to resize and recreate the minimap of map made by somebody, that you are giving create to the creator by using signs, while also advertising their map....but it is perfectly acceptable to use the Identifying name and title of Crew from a well-known group of mapmaker's that has well over 30 maps, to make yourself appear better? It's like arguing that The Ultimate Builder's challenge is crap, because the winner isn't the "Ultimate Builder" in the game.
Neither of these can be stopped by regular users, but at least the first one gives out credit to the proper people, while advertising them. It's not like this map is the opinions of one person, it's voted on for months in the game forum that receives the most traffic of players. While you might not like the results, it's nice to have your work recognize, even in an unofficial form.
I'm not going to go on about this anymore, and let this get back ontopic, instead of become a big argument, that winds up having to be stopped by a moderator.
EDIT: Anyone on the forums can vote on it, so you can voice your opinion on all of this stuff. If someone you know that is a really good ee player, they WILL be looked into.

Since you asked a question, I will finish it with a response. To be honest I don't really see why you brought up the MG thing as that is quite unrelated (coincidence of a not uncommon name of two letters versus deliberate copying of a really big world), however not everyone checks signs, and not everyone wants their level copied over to someone else's account. As I said, MG is not a unique enough name to really claim as yours. A name like your username, "KingOfTheOzone," is unique enough, and if someone else used it, it would definitely be taking your name, but a name of just two letters cannot be owned by anyone, and people may take a name out of coincidence. An example I provided was someone I know who goes by the name MG. He's used that name longer than MG Crew. Though it would be silly to tell a crew "pick a more original name someone used this already blah blah." It's two letters. Coincidences happen. It's more likely for someone to come up with MG for a two-letter-only crew name than it is for someone to coincidentally create an exact copy of a map. If there's going to be a"best of" for the year, then it should just be a topic with a list of the worlds, for people to experience the real thing, not a shrunken version of it, and for Master1 to get attention out of it. Signs are skipped a lot. Kids generally don't like reading credits. So a lot may pass by the signs and just see Master1's name and go "Wow master1 has made a lot of neat levels! woot!"
