I can't think of a perfect reasoning right now, but i believe it's just not appropriate for one user to get more than one role card per game. If dead, one should stay dead and allow other users to take over any potential inactive roles.

Dead mafia replacing town breaks the game
Dead town replacing mafia is also real nasty especially for some power roles like tracker
Therefore replacements can become alignment indicative and ruin the game

I agree with Norwegian. My thing with it is that if you die, the only reasonable way you should get back into the game is via the Retributionist (I'm pretty sure that's in this game, but, I haven't really checked the role list for the Mafia games on here). Because if you die and take the position of someone who is still alive, that's basically like that player being revived. Which is unfair, since they'll keep prior knowledge from when they were alive.
It's kind of hard for me to explain too, but I just think in general it's a bad idea because it's illogical to do so, and provides a disadvantage to the opposing team.
Don't ask me what I'm doing, I don't even know what I'm doing.

okay but i was more thinking of if i was dead and i was docotr i woudl replace someoone like a role blocker or a cop i was just asking this to help railmat get backups but if not allowed then sure i dont need to be a backup after i died

If you're a townie and then die, if railmat puts you in the shoes of another townie, then we'll know that you're a confirmed townie, which puts the mafia at an unfair disadvantage.
