Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

?

The world war ended globally with the unconditional surrender of Germany on 9th May, under scribed by Wilhelm Keitel, who was assigned the main role one day after hitlers' suicide.

Maybe in your country the nazi-warriors left... But 9th May is the international victory day

@Whirl: Will you also celebrate the start of the war - 1st September - First attack to Pole?

No, that's not a holiday.

no
nazi germany's surrender ended the war in Europe only
the WWII officially ended when Empire of Japan surrendered on September 2nd, 1945

in some countries the 9th/8th of May is a day to commemorate all the people who had fallen during the war
however, other countries (most notably Russia and formerly USSR) seem to be caring more proud about the victory itself and show off their military power, many thanks to soviet propaganda for that

And you are beautiful. Now we both lied.

back to topic, the it's actually the night between 8th and 9th may. What task manager called above was when the post-war ended. Basically officially 9th may everything ended, but of course not everyone just stopped. Many germans considered it's only for the western Germany and continued shooting in the east.

Re: Victory Day 2019

Please learn your history on WWII about all fronts.
Don't confuse Великую Отечественную Войну with Второй Мировой Войной. Those are different. The war in Eastern Front ended with German Instrument of Surrender on 8th of May at night (but it was already 9 May for Moscow because of timezone).

The World War 2 however ended much later, because Japan was still a threat.

Here is brief history of WW2 in a format you might like

Yes you are. Victory day is celebrated on the 9th of May. Victory day of ВОВ, not WW2.
