Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Re: Smiley's Deaths - [Round One]

The unhappy smiley unfortunately triggers a World War 3, and in efforts to preserve their own ideals, both the United States and Russia drop nuclear bombs and each other and all of their allies, leaving the world in a nuclear holocaust. The nuclear fallout from the war leaves the world uninhabitable, and in most areas, no flora or fauna survive. Any of the coastal cities that wouldn't have been destroyed due to bombs being dropped on them would be surely destroyed by the impending tsunamis that were surely to come, if not by the eventual volcanic eruptions that would occur due to dormant volcanoes being brought back to life by the incident, or even the rising sea levels due to the melting of polar ice. The arctic would melt due to the increasing amount of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere, leaving behind no life in the Northern Arctic Circle. Parts of Antarctica would be theoretically habitable, if it were not for the vast amount of radiation in the atmosphere, but there would be no more food left, due to the changing ecosystem being too much for native wildlife populations to keep up with. A mass extinction would wipe out a large part of the life on Earth, including most if not all of the life on the surface of the planet. This would leave Smiley with two options, escape through space or escape through the deep oceans. Unfortunately, both take a lot of resources to be an option, however seeing as the space option takes too many resources to maintain (including food) that aren't accessible in space, this negates the space option. The best submarines could survive the depths of the ocean where life is not so much affected by the dust in the atmosphere blocking out the light of the sun (which would normally kill any plants on the surface). If the submarine is nuclear powered, it could possibly last a lot longer, but the lack of food would mean that Smiley would definitely die. It would not be a matter of if, but a matter of when.
