and completing levels faster, eh? not sure about that, can be useless in some cases

99% of worlds disabled potions.
They were uncontrollable. They would break minigames because world creators never made minis around potions. They're temporary, and limited items that had to be purchased with energy.

The new effect system is way better than potions because effects can be controlled, unlike potions. What I mean by controlled is effects can be cancelled in the level, and they can be limited to specific parts of levels which doesn't break the level (unless there is an oversight or exploit).

Effects are also a one-time purchase. The potion system was a greedy system generally made to earn Gems but every dev after MrShoe realized the potion system wasn't generating extra Gem sales... for good reason.
