Bobithan ran this fun game here and I'd like to revive it if y'all would care to join me!

The rules are straightforward: each round has a rule. This rule applies to the each post a player makes, but you don't know what it is. You want to guess the rule to win. Upon correctly guessing, you get to determine the rule for the next game, provided it isn't too complicated.

You only get one guess each round. You can experiment with others through conversation to determine what the rule is. Please do not, however, simply post random content or consecutively. Excessive disregard for this request will get you dropped from the round.

Double posts will be deleted. Editing will be disabled.

(too long? too confusing? go read bobithan's rules, they're much more agreeable!) I opt to create a new thread a la Mafia because, well, it seems weird to take over his thread with such a host-involved game.

INVALID - The guess in this post does not count (they already guessed/broke some rule)
INCORRECT - This guess is wrong.
RULEBREAKING - This post breaks the rule.
(I also will try to mark posts when I have checked the thread with a piece such as 'posts heretofore have been evaluated')

You guess by guessing, I guess. The more specific and clear you make your guess, the easier it is for me to say "hey this person is right."

more info: the rules aren't cumulative. Each round is a new rule; the old one does not apply. Also, the first post in this topic may or may not follow the rule. I didn't consider it.

Yes. If you reveal a rule by your post, it seems fair to be able to double post to claim credit.

it's both enjoyable to me and helpful to you to vocalize your rationalizations and make it clear where, if you are stuck, hints could be given periodically. Otherwise, I could just butcher things.

or maybe the person who created the clue gets that task. Either way, like I said, y'all are getting somewhere.

You cannot take credit for your findings as you already made an errant guess. I imagine you could still say it and let someone else "guess."

Indeed, slabdrill is correct, yet it's limited by my ability to recognize falsified quotes. So for reliability's sake, I recommend avoiding fake quotes.

"technically" names are an entirely different class of "technically variable" -- you still retain a "Formerly X" reminder and honestly if I noticed someone switching, I'd point it out in game, which would probably make the rule more obvious.
