Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Theres no real reason for this to be in EE as it would only be used when doing something outside of the game (unless I'm misunderstanding what your suggestion is), but theres plenty of external tools that you can use to do this, either by screenshotting and using paint etc to pick a pixel, or by installing a browser plugin or downloading a program that lets you pick a colour directly from the screen.

Finding matching or similar colours is one of the interesting things about making art.

You might as well download EEditor or EEArtist.

One bot to rule them all, one bot to find them. One bot to bring them all... and with this cliché blind them.

I guess the colour picker would have that one use in game, and the closest block thing would have some use, but that would only be if you are bulding pixel art of something in EE inside EE, which doesnt happen very often. I still think these things are needed so rarely that it doenst need to be part of EE though, as its easy enough to take a screenshot, or install a program to do it.

sharex has this feature

example
(description: a list of sharex's features, including a color picker)

as for this being added to EE itself... probably unlikely.

It's for people that are too lazy to use the minimap and their eyes in conjunction i think.
