Merged this thread with the poll thread since they're the same discussion; that's why koya double posted.

Also, another idea for a woot counter alternative could be a "greatest hits" type list of posts for each user that displays their top wooted posts, as that keeps woots as a per-post kinds thing

But there are some people who are one hit wonders when it comes to getting woots and it doesn't necessarily reflect them, same with those who get consistent woots but haven't got a load for one post.

That's one of the reasons why I liked allowing -reps: I could have my way of giving feedback to those unnecessarily sarcastic, rude, and trying too hard to be "cool" without having to derail the topic (by posting) or get too personal (private messages). I can understand why they were removed(?), though.

How about we just have anonymous upvotes and downvotes on posts that don't have forum-wide effects. Think Reddit, but it doesn't modify the order of the posts. That way people can still leave positive OR negative feedback on posts without taking 10 seconds to make a post themselves, but there's no real incentive to "farm" for rep.

Hi peeps i decided to wake up from my forum Afkness which i will probs return to when this post is made.
Anywho i understand why you disabled reps, but in my opinion adding a woot system won't exactly fix things.
It will be pretty much the same as the old reputation system, except instead of ,,Haha you have so many downvotes,,
it will be more of a ,,Haha you have so little woots,,
People will still be butthurt how they have little woots while people around them get woots for dang near free.
The reputation system is a popularity game where Pingo might be sitting on a throne of 69 woots, while some people *cough* N1kf *cough* will probably remain at like, 4. And then come the sour tears of jealousy.
And then we will have more topics like ,,Burn the forum rep system!!2!,, ,,I have 0 wootz i call rigged,, , we will lose the rep system, discuss on a new rep system...... Rinse. Repeat.

This is my opinion on this matter, say whatever you like, i probably wont respond anyways. Going to the torture hole known as a ,,highschool,, in a few more days where i can meet more people to be anti-social with .

We've been through the woot stat thing before. I probably like the stats for the wrong reason; more than likely folks will start up the woot factories again, for a short time. We seemed to have lucked out in that n1kf doesn't wootspam anymore

yeah I think there should be a woot counter, but not rep. woots are a good way to reward helpful posts because you are wooting the actual post. rep is just a popularity meter. imo, woot farming will go away if people just call out the woot farmers occasionally.
