maybe assign random usernames their id, and then if isolating check if topic has anon on, then if its true then use that assigned id.

why not base isolate off of usernames for anon topics

Because the usernames aren't stored anywhere and aren't reversible back to a regular old username. The isolation code basically says "Get all posts by this user ID". It's possible to say "Get all posts by this username" as well, but I can't say "get all posts with usernames that will be mangled into this specific anonymous username some time down the road." I have a solution for it, I just need to actually implement it.
