In its simplest form, Mafia consists of two sides: the Mafia, and the Town. The Mafia's goal is to kill the innocents, while the Town's goal is to kill the Mafia.
At the beginning of the game, the Moderator will secretly send everyone their role. The Mafia will know each other, while everyone else will only know their own role.
The game has two phases, the first of which is Day. During Day, the Town must choose someone to Lynch; they are trying to eliminate the Mafia, but the Mafia can lead them astray by casting suspicion elsewhere. Generally, players will vote for someone they think is Mafia (the Mafia will vote so that they seem to be doing this as well, and might even vote for each other to confuse the Town); when a player gets a majority of the votes, they are lynched. Their role is revealed by the Moderator, and it becomes Night.
During the Night, the thread is locked and no one can talk publicly. The Mafia, however, can speak to each other privately to plot strategy and decide who to murder before the next Day begins. In this way, they can silence members of the Town who are threats to them. At the end of the Night, the murder is carried out and another Day begins. In effect, the Town gets to kill someone, and then the Mafia gets to kill someone.
The game alternates between Day and Night until either the Mafia are eliminated, or the Mafia have killed everyone else (or nothing can prevent the same).

I highly recommend newbies to look at the last two mafia games in order to get familiar with mafia.

Game Rules:

1. Participate in the game. Being inactive after receiving a warning causes you to get kicked or replaced.

2. Do not talk about the game with anyone outside this thread or the mafia night chat. Everything must be readable and unhidden.

3. Do not work against your team by game throwing.

4. All votes must be bolded to be counted. They must be placed at the start of a new line and must begin with "!".

5. If you quote someone, do not change their original message.

6. You may not quote, copy paste, or screenshot any PM messages from the moderator.

7. The day is over as soon as a vote majority is reached. Do not post after majority is reached.

8. Forum rules apply, however double-posting is allowed. You may not edit or delete your messages.

You must folllow the rules or may face a modkill. In the case you get banned on the forums, I reserve the right to replace you. Please keep in mind the spirit in which these were written, and know that looking for loopholes is a waste of time.

Prods:

During a day, I expect everyone to post here at least once every 24 hours. Players will be prodded after 24 hours of inactivity. Getting prodded causes you to get a * next to your name on the userlist. If you still don't post anything for over 48 hours, you will be replaced. PM messages and mafia chat do not count as activity. If your posts are found to not actually try to include content to further the game, they will not count towards resetting the prod timer.

Prods will be given to players on 08:00 PM UTC of every physical day, if
a) it's day in the game,
b) the day doesnt end in the next 24 hours,
c) and the player hasn't posted content since the last time prods were sent.

I definitely agree that I'd somebody isn't active, they should be lynched. The way live mafia games work is through constant discussion and we need to stimulate that as best we can.
I'm excited for the wills, those are a great idea.

Anybody have any ideas? I still don't know how we are supposed to find the mafia without just blindly accusing each other.
All I've noticed is that RhazzleFrazzle is really trying to stir up controversy. Why? Who knows. Maybe it's a sinister plot. Maybe it's plan uncover secrets. It could go either way.

I've been busy.
But if you want an opinion, I don't like Rhazh's tone/demeanor whatever. Very confrontational based on nothing. I don't necessarily think that makes you mafia-ish, I just don't like it.
Strong town read on Hostage and Calicara because they have been the only ones to defend themselves and I'm going off what has happened, which isn't much.
Bobithan is my tentative scum read. Not sure why, but I'm just saying what I feel.

Ok, while I hate to believe Rhaz is town, nobody has counter claimed. I guess we can just wait for the mafia to kill him.
Bobithan voted for Onjit, but I don't really see why. Bobithan still seems sketchy.

I'm assuming Rhazh is gonna shoot me or onjit tonight, which sucks because if he kills me, that's one innocent dead.  If he shoots onjit and he's mafia,  you guys will lynch me, which is one innocent dead or if he's innocent then it's 1 maybe 2 innocent dead if I get lynched anyways.
and the kidnapper is dead so there's no stopping him.
So, pls. Rhazz. Pls. Don't kill do it. You'll regret it.

Zoey isn't the ideal lynch IMO. Onjit and Evilbunny are top targets IMO. The two seem coordinated.

Why? Because we are both less active than you'd prefer? We weren't the only ones who didn't like your aggressiveness and want to lynch nonactives? By that logic half of us are coordinated.

I am lynching anyone who isn't talking at all. First, they won't make difference because they aren't helping at all. Second, they're just trying to get less attention and making our readings harder.

Anyways Creature is at the top of my scum list right now. I forgot to add that he feels like he wants to hide under the radar as well. His lack of contribution worries me.

This is D1 geez, you can't force everyone to show their leads asap.

   However, you're looking very scummy by attacking everybody who's saying something. You're in general pointing someone's personality as if he was actually scum. You're likely manipulating town into believing you just because you're experienced and stuff, It's weird how nobody besides me is suspecting you.

Look, creature thinks we should lynch people who don't contribute and was on the hate Razz bandwagon. Why isn't he being included in this.

This is all very silly and I'm sure the mafia is loving this distraction.

This post and the one with creature were my only 2 defensive posts, and I think they proved my point well enough.
Now I have 2 responses to each Rhazz's and Bobithan's posts questioning me, I think that is a reasonable amount of defense. Tell me if you disagree.

Crap, I just had a thought. Mafia has a kidnapper and we only have one role that can do anything right now. So the only way for us to kill mafia is by lynches. Rhaz has no more power than a normal town because he's gonna be kidnapped every night.

So Mafia is either going to kill rhazz or keep him alive and try to fish and find the backup rolecop as fast as possible.

Our lynches have to be on point, mafia has a big advantage until we get our rolecop. and still, he'll only be able to find the kidnapper. This game is hard.

Look, every player has seen Rhaz's claim, and has posted after that. If he isn't telling the truth, the real vig would have spoken up by now. I can't think of a reason why they wouldn't.

If I was the real Vig I wouldn't speak up,  I'd just shoot Rhaz tonight for false claiming. I have an idea of who would do this, but I'm not gonna give the mafia ant hints.

I never got a response to why you aren't lumping Creature with Onjit and me.
and I don't see what I've done to deserve being lynched. Same with Onjit, he seems as innocent as anybody else.
