Counteracting boosts

I thought boosts were fast enough that user input in situations above didn't do anything noticeable (I was holding left)

There's not much they can do about boost bugs, as fixing them would mean rewriting how they work, and physics changes are generally frowned upon.

As buggy and annoying as they may be, I guess we gotta live with them

Left boost is stronger
Haven't tried it, but I don't think so, it will only make you go back once. If I remember correctly.

That's because EE let's you fly up on a 1x1 space if the X or Y coordinate is rounded, same with going down, left or right,
Although this could be fixed, we'll just set the double to an integer, it we can disable the opposite key of the boost for 0.2 seconds.
