Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

In your country it might be ok to kiss every single person, but other countries might find that a bit weird. Why do you always say that here?

Here in Brazil a polite kiss on the cheek is the standard way to greet women but of course it's awkward between guys. Latin countries in general are more liberal with those cultural things

Re: Off-Topic chat thread

Took a university entrance exam last Sunday. That was some tough stuff, on the last day I only finished it in the last 5 minutes being the last one in the room ;-; Those types of exams are way more impoitant here in Brazil than the US for example, as they're mostly the solo standard way to enter the uni. Only got 50 out of 100 and my essay was sort of bimpsy, so my chances aren't that high.
And I have another exam for Architecture in December this time for one of the biggest universities in my whole country, now I have to study my booty off this whole month ;---; that's what I get for being lazy

So, my first exam was for a Graphic Design degree in a federal university near here. It seems to be one of the most soughtly after ones. Is it worth it? All I currently do is just make random stuff in Photoshop but I really dunno if I can build a whole career based on that field

That's pretty rough.

In Australia (probably different again to US as well) we basically get a ranking based on some mathemagics from our results in high school. Not fun, but at least it's only like 50% based on the final exam.

Best of luck in your exams, I'm sure you'll get in, and everything will be fine once you get into a university. Even if it's not exactly what you want to do, you'll probably be able to change courses once you're in. (Of course I don't know exactly how it works in Brazil, so take my advice with a grain of salt)

From what I've seen of your stuff your future could definitely be in graphic design. If you consider what you do now to be just messing around, imagine how far you could go if you made it a focus //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

:O thanks! What I do is mostly messing around with layers, effects and transparent images stolen from the web, but I guess I learned a lot of things about Photoshop along the way. I've heard most students set up business after getting their degree though, and uuuh I'm no good leader.

Thanks <3. Here your results in high school don't influence your entrance in university except for some that let you use your school report as admission.
Usually the one and only way to enter an university is their entrance exam called "vestibular" (and your score in a American SAT-like exam is important too). It's pretty much one shot, one kill.
There's an universe of preparatory courses specifically for getting high grades at these exams that begin months or even years before. Schools are pretty much like that too, which is dumb if you think about it.

And of course you can change your course, but only between semesters I think. If I'm not happy with Graphic Design (IF my score is high enough to enter beforehand, which is a bit improbable) I'm thinking about changing to IT or maybe even journalism or international relations, but you must have good **connections** to have a future in the latter.s :<

I've heard you're in Architecture, and that's exactly what I will take if I enter the other university I mentioned. Is it good? Too much math compared to everything else?

The university that I'm studying architecture at (Monash University) treats architecture more like an art and is fairly abstract (it's a pretty new faculty, only like 10 years old) so I haven't had much maths in my first year of studying. However, we have had some study about materials and how they are used that got a bit technical. There'll probably be more maths involved later, but I can't say for sure.
(Not that I have a problem with maths, I'm studying Civil Engineering at the same time ^^)

As for studying architecture and is it good? Well, if you can deal with your teachers giving vague and unhelpful advice ("What if you turned this... upside down... I think it'd be much better"), having to defend your work for your final mark, long hours of very meticulous and detailed drawing, late nights modelling, and being generally tired... then I think it's pretty interesting and worth pursuing.
