If you encounter a path with a blue coin, turn back immediately. Most blue coins are pretty obvious that the path is a blue coin.
The points marked here are the points that have an intersection that isn't a blue coin.
Note: You must defeat all of the bosses to go to the final area, so as a rule of thumb, if you're going to an area for a second time, take the path you didn't take the first time as soon as you reach an intersection.

from the main area (that you start in after choosing difficulty):
up: has bosses, leads to point A
left: boss, leads to point B
down: no boss (but a very easy path - go here instead of going left twice), leads to point B

point A
up: boss, leads back to point A
right: to point C immediately

point B
right: boss, leads to point A
down: boss, leads to point C

point C
bottom portals: back to start area
top portals (blocked by coindoor): to the final dungeon. No more branching paths from there on.
