Here's the bottom line.   Sure, you can go around telling people nicely: "Hey man, don't spam the topic like that", but you NEED to report the post so a moderator may give out a warning to that user. I don't see how that is 'running away and calling a mod for help'. Also, you can't go around sticking, locking, or telling people you're giving them a warning, since you are impersonating a moderator by pretending you have those abilities.   If you start going around acting like a moderator or telling people stuff is against the rules without alerting an ACTUAL moderator, all you are doing is interfering with our ability to effectively give out warnings to rule breakers.

I have one last thing to say:
Currently the moderators are so bad at "effectively giving out warnings to rule breakers" that my "interfering" could only help them do a better job.
