As Atilla mentioned, it has to do with linebreakers in the chat.

Talked to Chris ingame, he now knows of the bug and, if I understand correctly, he's going to fix it.

No he didn't know till I told him. When he fixes it it should also fix people being able to make stupidly long usernames like zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz n stuff.
