The shield effect functions quite similarly to the protection effect. But unlike protection, shield does nothing to infected players (zombies, the cursed & the poisoned) and only protects you from hazardous blocks and infected players.
The block options are either; time based, toggle (enable/disable), or both.

I think Win95 is 16-bit color.
