Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

We need the ability to change the camera focus in EE, and be able to do things like lock the camera in place and zoom in or out. It would really help with making and playing worlds. There can also be a world option that lets map editors restrict zooming features for things like multi-screen levels.

#2 Game Suggestions » Combat in EE??? » 2018-01-28 19:48:12

Recently, I've been thinking about how cool it would be to have combat mechanics in the game (besides curse and zombies), and all the games that could be made with it. Since EE is a game about making levels, it would only make sense if you could make levels with fighting in them. I imagine they would work a lot like the weapons in Terraria, where they swing in an arc around the player.

Implementing a combat system would only require a bit of coding for the weapons and some action blocks:

Health Bar Effect - gives players an adjustable number of hit points. Goes down whenever the player takes damage, then kills when the number reaches 0
Equipment - like team blocks, it either gives you a weapon or changes your current weapon when touched. Can also be set to remove a weapon. Different weapons could have different behaviors; for example, a sword might attack faster than an axe or have a little more reach.

Here are some optional ideas that aren't crucial for adding a combat system, but would make things easier:

Dummy - Ideal for campaign-style worlds; a block that can be destroyed by players if that player uses a weapon. It could be set to take one hit or several hits to destroy.
Weapon doors/gates - Would allow world makers to control where people with certain weapons can go; would be ideal for things like portal filters or barricades for people without the right weapon.
Making blue coins heal players when collected
Strength/weakness effect - Would let world makers further customize weapons and add class systems that make some classes deal more damage than others.
Magic Spells - These could do things like give effects, restore health, or attack from a distance. Spells would make the combat more involved and provide a new meta-game in case weapon fights get old.

I'm hoping either this or another combat-related thing gets added in the future. It would introduce a new form of competition for players.

Mmkay then. I wonder how much I can get before the next update... I'll probably put all of them I have in a world next to each other.

The shop could use some more energy items. Right now I've got over 700 max energy that Idk what to use on besides limited blocks and worlds. Some more action blocks and decorations would be nice.

I know some people still have around 250 max or something, but there's also people like me who have more energy than they know what to do with.

About 7 years ago, I saw it on a game site called GameFudge (it's dead now) and I played it as a guest for a few months. I left it for a couple years around the time magic coins were frequent and ranks existed, then came back to it some time before campaigns were introduced.

Update: I was able to log on to my world, but the advent campaign worlds still won't let me connect to them. I'm clueless as to why this happened. I doubt it's a problem with my internet, because I'm still able to join some worlds.

(a few minutes after I posted the above) It went back to disconnecting me from it. It seems like it's an on-and-off thing.

The game isn't letting me go to some worlds, but it's letting me in others. I wanted to go to a specific 300x300 world of mine, but it showed the disconnect screen. Then I decided to play on the advent calendar campaign, but it still showed the disconnect screen no matter which one I clicked. However, it did let me into a world that showed in the lobby, and it let me into some of my other worlds. Do you know what's wrong with it?

having limited blocks adds to the fun of getting creative with building worlds

besides, what would you even use it for?

It would mainly be used for pixel art and as a block that can be used for several different level themes, basically the same way you would use any other block.

Also, the block doesn't have to be a data eater. The color could just be its own data tag, like the portal/switch ID's. Again, it would be the same texture for every color of the block.

It doesn't have to ruin pixel art, either. The colors could be kept at a fixed brightness and saturation so they differ from blocks like minerals or glass. I didn't say it shouldn't have limits to what colors you could pick. In a nutshell, it would just be another block pack but in one adjustable block.

It would be pretty cool if there was such a block that you could change the color of in a color-wheel menu.

The block could have a unique texture (like wool in Minecraft) to tell what block it is, and it would save people the trouble of finding the right block for the background color they want when doing pixel art.

There might be some problems with adding this block, though. It might make traditional EE pixel art less popular, or might get overused in worlds to the point where other blocks aren't worth getting.

I'll leave it to the community to debate about it. Would it be a good addition to EE? Or will it make other blocks pointless to buy?
