Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

I remember seeing in one of the conversations between Xenonetix and Fixel that Satanya had posted on Discord a while ago, Fixel mentioned they planned to be profitable by June 2021. Though I think that was before they decided to scrap EEU, so who knows how that's changed by now.
EEU began with the fact that we needed to make EE in HTML5 (for obvious reasons) and that in doing so it would be a great opportunity to refresh the game by fixing all the problems it had that couldn't be fixed without breaking worlds. That meant improving the physics, and recreating the pallete of blocks to remove redundancy and have fewer but more versatile blocks.
And if we were doing a refresh/reboot of the game, it would also be an opportunity to update the graphics. In EE the tiles are 16 pixels, and the game is 500 pixels tall, which is very small on most screens, and only keeps getting smaller with higher resolutions. Ideally the game should fit any size screen, which is what everyone is used to with modern web games. Vector graphics were the obvious choice, though they came at the cost of losing some of the charm the old graphics have.
Keep in mind that EEU is still very much in a work-in-progress state. The physics work but haven't been adjusted to be good, only a few blocks have been added and some of their graphics are just "good enough" and meant to be updated later, and the interface is just the minimum functionality as well as being experimental in the case of the sidebars and chat. Though complaints about the lack of features and such are understandable given that it's been two years in development.
One thing I'm including is a list of all staff members so that you could search for something like "all worlds created by pre-2015 staff members" or whatever, but I'm missing a few of the dates, I'd be grateful if anyone could fill in any of the ones I haven't been able to find if you know them or know where to find them:
CJMAEDER developer start date
CYCLONE developer start date
KASLAI developer start date
KASLAI developer end date
KERFF developer start date
KERFF developer end date
ULTRABASS 2nd moderator end date
MINISAURUS original graphics designer start date
NOU moderator start date - If we don't get this one I'll just put down 2015/4/17 (his first forum announcement)
RPGMASTER2000 developer start date
RPGMASTER2000 developer end date
SHOWPATH developer start date
THESOURCE85 moderator end date
TIRALMO start date
TOBY developer start date

Everything else was before Xenonetix's staff discord.
I'm not sure what the problem is with using the "stolen" graphics in EEO, a game that isn't monetized. Isn't the point of EEO to preserve what EE was, including what it looked like? Using entirely new graphics seems to go against that point.
EE was an app on Facebook back in September 2010, and I think I remember hearing about Chris Benjaminsen working with Facebook on something later on, so clearly Facebook was well aware of the game and never did anything about it using the smileys. The main issue with them is that they're obviously not usable at larger sizes.
Nintendo of course is a different matter and not worth even the slightest risk.
With any of the graphics it could be seen as weird and cheap to use unoriginal graphics when original versions can easily be made (and for the most part they have been made).

Not quite sure if there is a way to make them keep being translucent but look as good in both white and black backgrounds, there seems to be no midground for it.
I don´t know if you kept the file of your yellow smiley in with translucency, would be good to know how you got such excellent color results.
The idea I've had for a while is that the smileys are flat, but they're in a 3D world where the blocks are basically cubes. Kind of like Paper Mario (though obviously with less depth to the world):
Years ago I was actually planning to make a "2.5D" client for EE with that concept but I never started it. I might throw together an image tomorrow to demonstrate the idea.

I'm pretty sure today, September 17th, is the date that marks 10 years since my brothers and I found Everybody Edits!
...corona is spiking up again
"We have an anonymous new Graphics Designer who would like to remain nameless" I guess there is only one graphic designer that is working anonymously?
"They've" & "and are", I guess there is more than one graphic designer that is working anonymously then?
Or might be that there is only one graphic designer on the graphic designer team working anonymously and there is also one staff member that is not a graphic designer but is helping the graphic designer team to create new assets? (This sounds to me like what is going on with that weird combination of plural/singular nouns/pronouns)
"They" (and subsequently "are") is often used when referring to a singular person but ignoring gender. English is great
I still have a few things to wrap up in the next week or so and then I'll be officially departing the team, but obviously I'll still be a part of the community.
in the next week or so
mm yes
(It's finally done now)
I'm leaving the Everybody Edits staff.
Two and a half years ago, I joined the team, and after playing this game for over 7 years, and seeing it go through the drama of 2017, it was a dream come true to be able to help revive the game and make cool new additions. We even started a reboot of the game, a new game that was meant to be more polished and go beyond what EE did, and to continue the game and community beyond the death of Flash in 2020.
I learned a lot in my time working on the game, about graphics and game design, and how to work with a team, among other things. I can definitely say this was the most impactful period of my life. Of course, there were plenty of negatives. From my procrastination habits pushing things close to deadlines and rushing late into the night, to conflicts between certain staff members, this job has had it's share of stress.
Up until recently, I never considered leaving the staff, but a couple of months ago I started thinking more about where I want to go in life. And eventually I came to the conclusion that I need to move on from this project. There are many reasons, including things such as the stress of drama in the community, the shame of failing to meet my responsibilities (or at least my expectations), differing mindsets and goals for the game, and even my current financial situation.
In the end, I hope that Everybody Edits leaves the legacy it deserves, and that the original game with all the worlds is playable in some fashion. I also hope that the reboot, Everybody Edits Universe, becomes successful one day. I have tried my best to help make that possible.
I still have a few things to wrap up in the next week or so and then I'll be officially departing the team, but obviously I'll still be a part of the community.
It's been an honor to work with the talented people that have contributed to the game in these past few years: Xenonetix, John, Priddle, EEJesse, Showpath, Gosha, LukeM, Cercul1, Minisaurus, Koya, Security-Drone, Kirby, Master1, RavaTroll, Tiralmo, Phinarose, Zoey2070, LRussell, Grandswordsman26, Darksaplep, Bud, Buzzerbee, Luridmetal35, NeonSynth, Diff, as well as, of course, my brother ByteArray. Even if I never really talked with some of you, I am proud to have worked alongside you all on this project.
I also appreciate the support and encouragement of the community, and of course all the supporters on the Patreon and through the game.
Time to move forward.
Thanks guys!

It looks like one of Lop's worlds, but I can't find it on their profile. In fact there's definitely multiple worlds missing, given at least "Humm Chocolate" isn't there even though it shows up on the lobby. Same with "Jump Jump Jump" on Iraka's profile.
...Super Mario All-Stars...
Ah, thank you! I've looked for where the grass blocks came from but could never find them outside of a fan game.
Kentiya wrote:and going up to 600x400.
Are there plans for greater world sizes further into EEU's development?
Not currently. 600x400 is the largest size that fits comfortably in the game at the native size and it will cost 24000 energy, or almost 6 weeks of energy.
Kentiya wrote:Those are just cropped screenshots. Worlds will be available in sizes that are a multiple of 50, starting at 50x50 and going up to 600x400.
You mean a multiple of 50 in area, so if a user bought 50 blocks 14 times, the user could get any world with 700 blocks in it up to 600×400, such as 2×350, 4×175, 5×140, 7×100, 10×70, 14×50, 20×35, 25×28, 28×25, 35×20, 50×14, 70×10, 100×7, 140×5, 175×4 or 350×2?
No, 50 for each dimension. So the next size up from 50x50 would be 100x50 and 50x100, then 100x100 and so on.
huk94 wrote:Will there be customizable world sizes? I just found this idea very great, like you know, someone makes a great 300x25 world
or some other ratio
could be fun
I strongly remember the Staff hinting at custom world sizes, but I can't actually find it. Instead I'll point out that capasha's leaked world minimaps include this:
https://i.imgur.com/cbFEVkH.png (78 × 42)
and this:
https://i.imgur.com/o801TmC.png (28 × 69)
These could be a result of hacky mod worlds being custom sized as can be done in EE, but based on all the evidence I'm going to assume these kinds of things are standard.
Those are just cropped screenshots. Worlds will be available in sizes that are a multiple of 50, starting at 50x50 and going up to 600x400.

I'm sorry, but the UI is not the best of your creations, please redo the third logo from the left, the hatbox can be also better. Or even better: Use Glyphicons from bootstrap.
I suppose the first is 'Menu' the most left is exit? The second one is fine. The third helicopter and two lines.. Hmm? God mode? Helicopter mode? Whatever it is, redo please..
The icons will soon be custom made, but for now they are using Font Awesome, and ByteArray couldn't find an icon good enough for God Mode so he used the helicopter as a joke.
I'd like to point out that all graphics, minimap colors, package names, interface design, etc. are subject to change at any point, and many of them certainly will through the remainder of Alpha and even into Closed Beta. Also, these screenshots are from before the latest addition of new metal blocks, a finished coin (the screenshot version was just a test), and smiley improvements.
