Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Interesting, will consider taking part if I can think of a good idea, got a lil bit of free time to waste in my schedule at the end of the month.

6 days to come up with an idea or not take part at all, I'll live with those odds //forums.everybodyedits.com/img/smilies/smile

Requesting a spot on the winners list.

Was tough, but I did it.

Great level, incredible story.

10/10 would play again.

Impressive amount of effort put into this.

I especially liked the usage of the death block for the chase sequences in the video game, and the multiple hit design of the boss levels.

I couldn't get further than the second world due to time constraints, but I'll definitely be back to check it out again some other day when I have more time to devote to it.

Hey everyone,

Here's the last of the remasters of my old levels. I originally made it in 2012, not sure of the exact date.

I kept the most complicated for last, as there was a lot to change and freshen up.

This world is a long linear adventure following the style of the classic Castlevania games from the NES/SNES era.

There are 10 stages to complete to collect all 50 coins, then a secret little bonus to go through to get the challenge cup and finish the world.

The difficulty ramps up progressively throughout the world, with each stage being harder than the previous one.

The types of obstacles you encounter are made to kinda mimic those that you encounter in classic Castlevania levels.

As for the jumps/minis/obstacles/whatever you call them, they contain a lot of speed jumps. If you don't like them, too bad. I do worlds first and foremost for my own enjoyment, therefore I shape them in the way of worlds that I would myself enjoy playing through. I know that's not enjoyable for everyone, but such is this world and I won't change it.

If you need training for speed jumps, I made a world just for that, click here to give it a go.

I did not play it all the way through as the « minis » didn't hold my interest enough to keep playing long. However, I have to congratulate you on how good this level looks. Playing it wasn't my cup of tea - to each their own obviously - but it was still worth a like on the amount of effort put into details. Really looks incredible.

After playing it in the newly added campaigns, I just had to bump this topic to let you know this level was incredibly fun to play.

I am tired of levels that focus too much on minimap art and have a game screen that is cluttered with random stuff, this one finds a great balance in that domain.

I am way tired of levels that put style before substance, look good but are horrible to play. This one was really fun all along. « Less is more » is a good design mantra.

I am way way way tired of every level having an uneven difficulty curve and jumps that require struggling to the millimeter, this had none of it.

And on top of that the story part was pretty fun and well designed.

This is probably my favorite level I ever played. Congratulations on a job well done, it definitely deserves to be included in the campaigns. I'm not super good, it took me over an hour and 200 deaths to beat it, but I still struggled all the way until I beat it because of how much I enjoyed it.

Hey there,

I was playing the second tutorial level in the campaign and got a message accusing me of cheating.

Specifically, I was on the high speed arrows section, and when I went through them it glitched through the ceiling, teleported me to the top left of the world, quit the level, and gave me this message.

Something with the cheating detection is way off.

Hey everyone,

My second to last remaster of my old worlds. One more and I'm done.

This one is a world that not everyone might enjoy, but the kind that I absolutely love designing, building, fine tuning, and playing on.

It's all substance over style, I did not focus on the aesthetics but rather on the jumps themselves.

The world was originally completed in november 2012. It was a bit easier, I worked on making it harder because I'm that kind of maniac.

It contains 4 tutorial levels to teach you the ropes, then 12 levels that you can do in any order, split in three categories: Speed, Timing, Balance.

How many coins will you be able to rack up before giving up? Or will you manage to reach the winner's trophy?

Hey everyone,

Continuing with remasters of my old levels, here's Neon Void, originally made in November 2012.

I remade most of the challenges in the level to give it a more « puzzly » nature, and removed a lot of the backtracking.

Not much skill is required to beat this world, everything is simple once you figure out the proper way to do it.

I was intrigued by the concept, and gave it a try.

The whole story driven stuff is very good level design. The way it guided me and told me where to go as it told the story made sure that I was never lost. That's good.

I wasn't a big fan of the world itself though, most of the obstacles were uninteresting, either too easy or annoying. But nonetheless, the fact that I played it for a good 20 minutes before giving up means that it's good work. This level just isn't my style, but that's a very personal opinion.

Good job.

Tried it due to being an avid I wanna be the guy player.

I was entertained for a bit, as you witnessed. Difficulty isn't as high or unfair as IWBTG, but it's still decent.

Playtest your levels all the way through before publishing them. Being playtester can be fun, but only if you're expecting it. I wasn't, felt like a bit of wasted time.

That ending trap is interesting, I'm a fair player and accept defeat.

I enjoy very few EE worlds. Maybe 1 in 100. This one, I did enjoy. That's a rare compliment coming from me.

The looks are plain, but not awful. What I value the most is fun, and I had fun trying to beat the level. I got stuck close to the end, and gave up, but I might try to beat it again some other time.

Sure, the « minis » all feel the same, but I actually like it when a level sticks to one theme and builds on it. Sometimes, less can be more.

Good stuff.

Hey everyone,

Continuing the remastering of my old levels. This time, you get two worlds at once!

Being from the 1980s, I grew up with a Sega Master System, and Sonic Chaos was the first video game I was introduced to ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonic_Chaos ). It's not the best, longest, or most fun game around, but it has a special place in my heart for being the very first game I remember playing.

Thus, when I decided to try and reproduce a video game in Everybody Edits, it felt natural to use Sonic Chaos as a reference.

I first started with a smaller level I called The Sonic Experiment.

It was a simple attempt at reproducing acts 1-1, 2-1, and 6-1 of Sonic Chaos. I made it a basic coin collection quest, which might not have been a good choice in retrospect.

Following this experiment, I felt like I had locked down the idea of how to reproduce Sonic Chaos in an EE world.

The key challenges were:
- Getting the looks right (that part, I got right, put a ton of effort into it)
- Getting enough room for all 6 levels / 18 acts (that required a lot of planning, but I did manage to get every single element of the original game in there other than the emerald challenges)
- Giving it the speed feeling of Sonic (I am not fully satisfied with that, could have done a better job)
- Making it easy yet fun to play (I honestly think I failed that part, coin collection is not exactly super fun, and there is too much backtracking involved)

Once I was done, I was only 50% satisfied with the final product. It looked great, but wasn't fun enough to play. I didn't feel like working on it some more though, as it had taken weeks of effort, so I left it as is.

Here are a few screenshots from the second one if you want to see what it looks like without playing it all:

I learned a lot making these worlds, and I still want to make a better Sonic world in Everybody Edits some day. Maybe.

Have fun !

Date could be wrong, I found a forum post I made about this world that said last edited in november 2012. I assumed that the edit was done around the time I first made the level.

Hey everyone,

Here's yet another remaster of my old levels.

I found a date on this one: November 8, 2012. I made it around the time background tiles were introduced to EE beta.

The idea was to make a small world based on the idea that less can be more. Simple, but complex.

I didn't change much from the original, only made the dark blue room less frustrating and the red room easier.

The world is very simple and straightforward, it's a series of rooms which each have their own gimmick. Figure out how to pass all seven and you're done.

Hey everyone,

I'm continuing the updating of my old levels.

I made this level during the first days of the beta on EE. It was a new concept for a world at the time, but it isn't anymore obviously.

This one is so old that there has been a change in the game physics since, so the jumps were broken. I kept the old school looks (old tiles, no background, etc), but had to rebalance most of the jumps.

It's a level about going fast and not stopping. As it goes on, new elements are introduced that do mostly with gravity shifts.

The difficulty is actually fairly easy compared to what I did later. There aren't many tricks, it's mostly all about timing your jumps right.

Not my best work obviously, posting it for nostalgia value.

Hey everyone,

I'm continuing the process of updating all my old worlds.

This is the very first level I did several years ago, when the EE beta was brand new.

Not 100% sure that it's only playable by beta members, but I think so.

As it is oldschool, it uses only the old tilesets. I didn't change the looks at all, to keep that vintage EE feel on the level.

As for the difficulty, I had to rebalance everything since this level is so old that the game physics have been changed since I made it: some of the jumps had become impossible, others too easy.

So, how good are you? Can you beat the hard challenge? Or even the pro one?

Hey there,

I built a few levels several years ago, and I'm updating them to fit today's EE with all the new blocks and features. They also all are in dire need of rebalancing and a bit of redesigning.

Until I tackle the real stuff, here's a mini puzzle level that's just a bit of harmless fun.
