why would this be useful (i realise it'd be a little fun)

if anything, if diff were to make this, i'd prefer it if it was just a link in this thread or something, rather than something on every page

You know sites like reddit, wiki etc have "random topics", and it's pretty cool to play around with

If you want, you could make this with some javascript. Take the highest forum topic ID and zero. Find a random integer between that and zero. Check to make sure it exists. If it does, navigate. If not, re-draw.

well it will throw you to dead topics most all of the time unless theres a filter that filters off topics with no new posts in X days/weeks
but then theres not a lot of topics on the random list
i wouldnt mind the feature anyway
