Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Like how if you have 2000 posts, people see you as more trustworthy than someone with 40 posts. Post count doesn't actually mean much but people still read into it and so people still get butthurt over it.

But if they see someone with 5000 posts and 5 rep then they would be less trustworthy than someone who has 100 posts and 5 rep - reps need to be diluted to represent posts before rep.

Judging trustworthiness based on numbers is bad, do we really want to be adding features that would accommodate and encourage the people who do that?

Ikr, I agree having another way to rate people is a bad idea.

sadly that's entirely true. there's no good way to make a system to determine someone's reliability, as everything can be flawed or exploited.. Numbers even more readily so.

edit: I say sadly because that'd be a fun metric to actually have be reliable

Re: Update Discussion for forums

I don't think reputation should be implemented.
The reason why woots have worked so well, is because people are unable to leave negative reputation & comments and turn the situation into a war.
Just like people make **** quality posts to bump their post count, they effectively rep themselves as well.

That, and it's another additional thing to moderate.

Re: Update Discussion for forums

I think reputation is fun. Nobody should really take it that seriously. Sure, don't just go -repping people for nothing, but in general it's just a cute way to tell people you appreciate (or dislike) their post.

Rep seems to be that exact platform.

That's because that is exactly what it is. It's engineered cancer.

Break the rules, no matter where you are, and you will be warned. Should I remove the PM system because a raider once PMed people ****? No, that's retarded. I ban the offender and move on with my life.

on that note, can we have another data dump? I'd have some interesting indexes to examine.

At times I see no point into the reputation feature. People could just troll it and it would be worthless.

It is worthless imo

If people have ?? rep, you can just click the reputation link and still see their score.
ex: ernesdo is -1

That's by design. It's for people who want to avoid being judged right off the bat by their rep but still want to send and receive feedback. Basically people who are butthurt but not that butthurt.

so basically medium level butthurtness?
we might need a butthurt-o-meter so people can determine their butthurt level and set their rep settings accordingly

i dont see what butthurt has to do with being prejudged just because of rep abuse and mortal enemies
