Nah.

Take the total number of pixels in that image, and divide it by the number of letters in Barack Obama. Take that and crypt it using the number of twinkles that Ryan Seacrest ate on x/y/2015; where x is the number of polka-dots on Spongebob's swimsuit and y is the atomic mass of 52.6 of Fabio's farts. Once you get that, write the end crypt on a sheet of A7 paper, use it as a butt wipe on 4 occasions, and promptly wave it in the face of the U.S. government. Once you are arrested for harassment, shine a UV light on the massive forehead of the cop who is driving and there is your gem code!

That would work, if zelda got something out of making gem hunts. But he doesn't, so what happens when he stops making gem hunts?

The image clearly states the reward.

And by first clues I mean the ones from which you start the hunt. Yes, there's more than one initial clue.
