Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

as a counterpoint: who cares? date and time is arbitrary enough anyways so there's no point in utc elitism on new years day, or ever, really.

to further mire ourselves in senseless pedantic debate, who doesn't care? By getting together and purportedly defying our circadian rhythms on one otherwise insignificant day, we give this arbitrary lapse importance.

This importance is then prone to applying in whatever manner... such as deciding which "new year" is best

so I guess if it's not important, then we shouldn't celebrate it

Re: happy new

wow when did you get here humus, bimp

firstly wow

secondarily
can we not in the cases wherein it has been established that there is not dispute over or the at all proposing of the question of whether one new year time moment is better or worse than the others that the celebrating of arbitrary things in general assuming that they do not result in harm would not be anything but beneficial in the event that people who partake in the celebration of the moments are made more happy or any range of results that are generally considered good?

Re: happy new

it isn't elitist in the slightest to celebrate new years at the same co-ordinated universal time worldwide, otherwise you have idiots celebrating it in advance and idiots celebrating it late. what's stopping me from boarding a plane and celebrating it twice?

nothing at all. I encourage it .

In fact, what's stopping you from celebrating at 6 PM... 12AM... and 6AM?! All in the same location?

Re: happy new

is it really meant to be celebrated globally?

like did the ppl who came up with it say that

and even if they did if ppl want to celebrate it how they want to i dont see whats wrong with that

and even if u say its supposed to be celebrated globally idk if that necessarily means everyone around the globe has to celebrate it at the same time

obviously nothing is stopping an idiot from celebrating it at whatever time they please
being a smart **** aside, the point is that it's absurd to celebrate it at a local time because it's not supposed to be relative in that way

god forbid you do that, you monster!

i live by my own clock and calendar because everybody who lives around me does as well because that's how the world works, so damn right i'm going to celebrate the new year when 2017 rolls over to the east coast. there is nothing intrinsic about new years day that means it has to be a globally simultaneous event -- in fact, quite the opposite, because it's the celebration of the moment your calendar switches from year x to year x+1, and since it seems like you don't know this, let me clarify: not everybody in the world is using utc, because that's idiotic.

sorry, i'm just really passionate about the integrity of localized new years celebrations.

I guess those people are really idiotic -- right, Atilla?

Re: happy new

a year is determined when the earth has completed an orbit around the sun not when drooling retards look at their clock and see 12:00

that's what determines when the earth has completed an orbit around the sun for people under the gregorian calendar

it's not objectively true and people celebrate it hours in advance and hours in the past. it doesn't take 2 hours for light to travel from bulgaria to nova scotia

In the chinese calendar it's based on lunar cycles.

that's literally how a calendar year is defined, which is what the celebration is about

people celebrate it hours in advance and hours in the past

why is this a bad thing?

it doesn't take 2 hours for light to travel from bulgaria to nova scotia

what is even the relevance of this light speed?

Re: happy new

I couldn't give less of a **** about what your calendars declare what a year is. Maybe in the feces-eating tribe of Kalawazoo new years is in 6 months from now, it'd be just as false as your calendar.
