I don't know why we would have a girl smiley when really has no gender. It is like adding the superman's hair onto it and calling it a boy smiley IMO.

when you take it out of context, sure, has no gender, but when you have it in the context of ee where most of the "female/girl" smileys are explicitly stated as being female, it at least somewhat implies that a "male" smiley is default

- based off of famous male actor bruce campbell

- based off of famous male superhero superman

- called fanboy... for some reason a few staff members keep trying to argue that it is in fact gender neutral?

- called fanboy 2

"good sir"  [arguable]

"more machine than man" [arguable; also kinda based off of the terminator, y'know, famous fictional male character]

- called postman

with secondary sexual characteristics aka facial hair, aka you're supposed to assume these are male:

  [sombrero]

(also spartan and bishop which are part of all-male groups i think)

okay so let's look at the explicitly stated female smileys

- lady [helen of troy aka based off of a real female person] - a smiley with feminine facial styling and hair

- girl - a smiley with feminine facial styling

- summergirl

okay let's look at the one that it's safe to assume is female despite not being explicitly stated

- princess is mostly a female title but this is the only "female" smiley that's doesn't say "lady/girl/feminine" in the description or name [that is in shop]

- witch is typically the female counterpart to "wizard"

so BASICALLY...
- all female smileys are specifically called female or otherwise use typically-female titles
- there are six smileys with facial hair that don't have any male titles/etc in the name/description

FURTHERMORE

the "feminine facial styling" [which doesn't really make sense] is apparent in three of the female smileys. the ones explicitly stated via having girl/lady in the name.

if we do the same thing for the male smileys but backwards (aka start from "male smiley" like superman and work backwards to see what "base" smiley it took it from) then...

is a male smiley
and so is every smiley that uses the eyes/mouth of it

(besides, adding hair to it and calling it a boy is literally what happened to it)

Well that isn't quite true.

If I were to draw that same exact smiley on a peice of paper or a white board it wouldn't be a "guy" or a "girl" it would be neutral.
