Do you think I could just leave this part blank and it'd be okay? We're just going to replace the whole thing with a header image anyway, right?

Everybody can make a world, and can therefore at least participate. A bot contest dwindles the number of possible participators down to a small half-hundred to even have a basic bot made
This contest simply favours the select few who wish to program in this game, creating MUCH less popularity then it could with a world making one.
Edit: Also, on your fact of "only experienced art and minigame makers can win". Are you kidding me. Thats the exact same as the bot contest. "Oh no, it also matters on your creativity". Then have the judges judge on that in a world making contest. Honestly, you arguments are kinda one sided, not much looking into the other side, andalthough i agred we need a bot contests, i still feel if its gonna be the first "official" contest in 2 years, it should be one that gets popularity and playets with something that everybody can do

Yeah; everybody can build, and even "begginners" in art can win, if their map is enjoyable, not needed of a very good art. But bots need coding aknowledges.

*deep inhale* B.o.B. not the rapper was a huge fail since day 1 - you can't even join in teams, wtf, I had some good ideas and would like to make a level, but teams aren't allowed, so creative people can't team up with coders; TOTAL DISCRIMINATORYNATIONS... usually people with a mathematic mind suck at creativity, and people with a creative brain suck at mathematics, face it: it's Logic Vs. Emotion, Calculation vs. Creativity, Asspurgers vs. ADD; in all the good games out there, there's usually one person who takes care of art, story, and gameplay for the most part while the other takes care of coding for the most part because minds work differently and people work differently, just think damnit! Damn that was a long sentence.

I know for a fact that bot worlds attract more attention than regular worlds.
I've ran a bot overnight and recorded the players who joined and i had over 1,600 people join. Not all were users that actually played or real accs even. I then ran a bot on a regular world that seemed to be pretty popular(Ex crew level) And it had only gotten 500 plays if even that. I also ran this test against many other worlds not just ex crew and the same result came up. Many of the players that join aren't actual players and they are just guests and fake accounts but it still shows that bot based levels attract more attention. I can even make a bot that records the average amount of time that a player stays in a regular world compared to a bot based world and the results will once again prove that bot assisted levels are the main thing keeping ee alive.

Plays doesnt make the game alive.
Making the worlds does
This is what the whole thread is about.
"Reviving" EE by letting them create a world, not excluding them from a contest they can't participate in

+1 for dragonranger, this is exactly what i'm trying to say.
#Changed account Blackspider >xKiran
+1, we need competitions that everyone can participate in, not just programmers.

Just because it's the first contest in 2 years doesn't mean it's gonna be instantly popular. It's not gonna increase how many people there are playing EE. To increase that number, you have to stop it from decreasing, and hope that the players that are enjoying EE might tell their friends about it. Or, advertisement. Bot levels do help with this because a lot of bot levels are bosses, and if it's a good one, people will come back to EE everyday to play it. Levels that aren't bosses can just be played once and then they're done. Battle of The Bots is going to put a lot of bot levels out there and a developer community that will maintain EE's popularity with interesting bots. Having a contest that everyone can participate in is important but it wouldn't be smart to have one when EE is still not alive.

Bosses are not necessarily better than non-boss worlds. I personally love many normal parkour-type worlds and would rather have infinite parkour worlds than infinite boss worlds simply because bosses get old and you really only need one or two online.

If you want to make a competition then do it.
Takoda made a competition based off of what he likes.
Brian supports him.
Show Brian why there should also be a art comp.
Instead of complaining on forums about bots.

Its not a complaint about bots, its a complaint on why its supported. Bot worlds wont encourage non-programmers to make worlds. Itll even make it worse, everyone going to bal rather than normal worlds. Honestly, bots are good, but they wreck what ideally ee is for, making worlds, and seeing people enjoying playing it. Bots exclude half of each from non-programmers, a.k.a a lot of players.
"Why there should be an art comp" wtf? Have you even read the posts in this topic
Also, another of the complaints is the point that brian has funded a bot one first, before all the other world ones already made in eeforumify, or before the missed halloween and easter events from last year AND easter one from this year, which should be made by THEM.

Worlds with art, and a great gameplay is the origin of Everbodyedits, not bots, the only bots that was good was like ex crew shift, AND, even in this world, there was art and gameplay

Yeah well a competition puts out a bunch of worlds at once. There's nothing wrong with non-boss worlds, but what EE needs is a constant flow of them. Bosses keep the population from declining until we have a constant flow of good levels.
Yes, we will get bored of playing the same boss all the time. But that's when bots come in, new creative bots means new creative experiences. And even one BAL lasts a long time. Look at Yo!Scroll. That lasted a really long time because people just really enjoyed it - the competitive vibe, the leaderboards, everything.
And yeah, having EE full of BALs isn't totally a good idea, but even though Battle of The Bots is going to cause loads of them to be made, I think only some of the bosses will continue to be active. Anyway, I'm pretty sure BALs will never ever be the majority of EE. They will be popular, but there will be non-bot levels that are just as popular.

The fact of the matter is, I'm trying to get some fun and unique levels out there (the only reason why Brian sponsored us), while you all are just complaining because it's "too inclusive". I offered at least a dozen resources that teach you how to program and make bots, and yet here you are, acting like it's an gene that is innate to the mentally gifted. Here's a newsflash: we had to learn too.
@xKiran/blackspider: If you want to make a normal competition, go ahead. Just keep your jealousy and conservative drivel to yourself.
People have been complaining about bots since day 1, and none of us developers know why. They are the same as any other world, they just employ a different type of challenge and bring a plethora new concepts to the table. I've never understood how someone can look at this vast world of possibilities and shut it down because it's "not what EE was designed for". Guess what? EE wasn't designed for anything. It's a sandbox game. And to me, anything that promotes a fun level is what we need.
Yeah, well, you know that's just like, uh, your opinion, man.

Very well put. Sure, we've had our previous competitions about world making, but now there is a chance for the bot developers to have an opportunity to participate in a tournament, not as so inclusive. The moderators aren't using a derogatory tone to the world developers by sponsoring the battle of the bots, more as an opportunity and encouragement for some better worlds to be made.
/Alex
I've never been a fan of bots, but I am all for the Battle of the Bots. I only dropped out because I won't have time due to work, but I think it's a great idea. Like Buzzerbee said, there are many players who aren't so good at art/minis and their talents lie elsewhere. Also though EE wasn't originally designed for bots, it seems over time they have gained official support via the moderators, just check out the blog.
Sometimes things change, and that change is for the better. As said, I'm not a huge fan of bots, but so far the majority seem to lend an increase to friendly community activity. If people are content and enjoying themselves, then I don't see the problem.

Well then, i'll make a normal competition,
And when you say "jealousy" Did i say/mean i was jealous a single instant? no. I can programm like the others, even make a bot, but the thing i find more fun, even the other persons said, is to make a world, and at the final see the results of their exploit

"Everybody edits", I literately have created a bot where everyone that joins a world... can edit their own part of the map. Creating ART and MINIS and CREATIVE IDEAS. I don't understand how that is contradicting ee.... It's literately encouraging everyone to edit............

it's the classic "we have the power, but is it okay to use it?" argument.
Is it power or advantage? It's the same as boh being really good at art. He has an upper hand on people that are not good at other things. I am terrible at art and minis but since i make bots i can make decent levels.
